2. What is "Temple Jewelry" ?
This is a unique kind of dance jewellery worn by Bharatanatyam dancers during their performance. This traditional jewelry is made mostly in the southern states of India. The Temple Jewellery sets you see in normal use are made of brass alloys with silver and some times gold plating over it. Traditional Red and Green Kemp stones are used to maintain the real Temple jewellery look. Quality material and skilled workmanship assures long life and traditional look to all our imitation (artificial) temple jewellery sets.
3. What are the different pieces of the Temple Jewelry?
Our Temple Jewelry set consists of eleven different parts: Long chain, Short necklace, Rakkodi, Nethichutty, Chandran & Sooryan, Jimiky,Vanki, Mattal, Ottiyanam (Belt), Nathu & Bullakku, and Bangles.
4. Is it possible to buy any or all the parts seperately?
Yes. You can buy all these parts seperately and build your own complete set. However, considering the shipping cost and the pricing strategy, we recommend you to buy the whole set if you are buying for the first time. If you already have the set and one of your part is missing or damaged you are encouraged to buy only that part.
5. What care should I take to enhance the life of the jewelry ?
Keep the Jewelry in a case after each performance. A plastic box of size 14x8x4 inches from Wal-mart or Target will be good enough! Please place a cotton cloth in between different jewellery items to avoid scratches. The storage place should be dry and at room temperature. Do not drop the jewelry. Also avoid exposure to direct sunlight for extended period of time.
6. What is the difference between real Temple Jewelry and imitation (artificial) Temple Jewelry?
The most common and affordable Temple Jewellery is made of Brass alloys and then plated with Silver and Gold polish over it. This is less expensive and suitable for most of the young and adult performers who don't want spend more, but would like to have an authentic looking jewellery set. This jewely sets have Red and Green Kemp stones which looks like Ruby and Emerald. If maitained properly, this imitation Jewellery set will last for several years.
The real Temple Jewellery is made of pure silver and coated with 18 - 22 Karat Gold over it. This is expensive when compared to the price of imitation (artificial) temple jewellery. The real Temple jewelry is very light (compared to imitation jewelry) as it is made of Silver.
7. What is Stone Bharatanatyam Jewelry?
This jewelry almost resembles temple jewelry and comes with beautiful red & white stones instead of the traditional red and Green Kemp stones. Thsis is little bit less expensive than the Kemp jewelry sets.
8. Do you have Real Temple Jewelry?
Presently, we don't have real temple jewelry in stock. How ever, many of our customers have enquired about it and we have indicated the tentative price to them. As we have explained earlier, the real Temple Jewelry is made of pure Silver and coated with 18/22k Gold, and is expensive. They are made to order and we need 20-25 business days for shipping. It is a real asset and can be handed over to generations.
